Creator Kit

Free VJ software that locks visuals to the beat. Everything you need to make a video about AI VJ — angles, clearance, honest limits, and copy you can lift whole.

Four videos in this, not one

Pick the one that fits your channel. Each says what to be straight about on camera, because your comments will find it anyway.

Long form 10–18 min

Free versus the stuff that costs hundreds

Run AI VJ and a paid market-leader on the same projector for one night. Same tracks, same room, same GPU. Score it on setup time, beat lock, and whether anyone in the room could tell.

The developer's own claim is roughly 80% of the most used features of the market leaders for €0 — a testable number, which is what makes it a video rather than an ad.

Be straight about Verify competitor pricing yourself before you quote it. AI VJ has no timeline sequencing and no shader effects layer yet — both are on the roadmap, neither is live yet.

Long form 8–12 min

House party, ten minutes, one laptop

Cold start on camera: download, plug in the projector, boot up AI VJ, start DJing on the same machine. No audio setup, no VJ controller, no clip-by-clip triggering, no pre-built set. The defaults do the VJing.

The whole pitch is that you go back to DJing. A timer on screen makes that pitch falsifiable in a way a feature list never does.

Be straight about Windows only. Fractals want a GTX 1080-class card; the pre-rendered clips are far lighter. Test on the machine you'd actually gig with.

Long form 12–20 min

I fed it my own photos and kept the copyright

Use Creative Director, the in-app generator to create some visuals from your own pictures, then project it. Under the licence you own the copyright on what you make outright — unless you take the 10% discount that trades distribution rights back.

Almost nothing in the AI-tools space hands you unambiguous ownership of the output. AI VJ does.

Be straight about Generation runs on paid commercial models. So it's not free at $ 1.26 for a video (and $ 0.08 for generating a picture).

Shorts 30–60 sec

The app records your Shorts for you

Since the September update it records video and Shorts directly, filling the leftover screen space with various effects instead of black bars. Vertical visuals, beat-locked, no editor round-trip.

Short-form visuals are a grind to produce. This is a way to make them that is itself the demo — the output is the proof.

Be straight about The feature is weeks old and there might still be rough edges.

You can monetise the footage

The question every creator asks first, answered before you have to ask it. This is a summary of the published licence — the full text governs, and it is written in plain enough English to read.

Permitted

  • Recording and uploading. Video, broadcast, streams, television, film
  • Monetisation. No separate commercial licence, no revenue share
  • Paid gigs. Live and recorded, private and public venues
  • Two machines for purchased packs, on top of your Steam installs
  • Visuals you generate in-app: copyright is yours outright

Not permitted

  • Redistributing the packs. No reselling, no sharing the clip files
  • Raw clip dumps. Not as a loop pack, wallpaper set or asset drop
  • Derivative works from the visuals or the app, without written consent
  • Cloud, rental or game-pass style redistribution of the software

The one catch, stated plainly

Recordings and streams must be part of a mix or performance — the footage needs music or sound with it. That is what separates a licensed upload from redistributing the packs.

In practice: a set, a mix, a tutorial, a review, a music video, a Short over a track — all fine. A silent twenty-minute loop upload of the clips themselves is not.

Governing law is Dutch, disputes go to a court in The Hague. If your situation sits outside the summary above, ask. A one-line written answer is faster than guessing, and we would rather clear it in advance than have a video come down.

Arming you for your own comment section

The name says AI, so the argument arrives with the video. Here is our actual position, not a deflection — use it, disagree with it on camera, whichever is honest for your channel.

The visuals are AI-generated and pre-rendered. That is disclosed on the Steam page, not buried. They are generated ahead of time and curated rather than produced live, which is why they run on a laptop with a projector instead of a server cluster.

Nothing is generated during your set. Real-time generation is a roadmap item waiting on hardware, not a current feature. If a video implies otherwise, that is a mistake worth correcting.

Disclosure is on you, and it is simple. Platform rules on synthetic media generally target realistic depictions of people and events. Abstract beat-reactive visuals sit well outside that, but check the current YouTube policy yourself rather than taking a vendor's word for it.

The counter-argument is fair. There are people who will not want AI visuals behind their set at any price, and a review that says so is a more useful review. We would rather be covered accurately than covered warmly.

Either way. Intuition Technology embraces the AI Revolution, in the name of beauty!

What we would rather you found here than in the comments

A press kit that hides these loses you the moment you find them. All of it is public already.

Mixed on Steam — 67% of 62 reviews
Say the number. Read the negatives on camera if it suits the video. Most cluster on Early Access rough edges and on the DLC model; both are fair criticisms of where the app is today.
64 paid packs is a lot of paid packs
The app and every core VJ feature are free and staying free; visuals beyond the free samples are $4.99 a pack. Some viewers will read that as nickel-and-diming. It is how a one-person studio funds the free app — say both halves.
Windows only
No Mac build exists and none is announced. A large slice of your audience is on a MacBook. Lead with that rather than letting them find out at the download page.
Fractals are GPU-hungry
Smooth on a GTX 1080. The pre-rendered clips run on far less. Test before you recommend a spec.
English interface only
Relevant if your channel is not in English. No localisation is announced.
One developer
Fast replies on Discord, no support team behind them. That is a genuine trade-off in both directions and worth naming as one.

AI VJ — free Windows software that throws beat-synced AI visuals on your projector while you DJ.

Description box 52 words

AI VJ is free VJ software for Windows. It puts beat-synced AI visuals on your projector and locks them to the music — via Ableton Link from Rekordbox, Traktor, Serato or Virtual DJ, or by estimating BPM from whatever is playing. No VJ controller needed. Free on Steam; optional visual packs support development.

Spoken intro reads in ~22 seconds

So this is AI VJ. It's free, it's Windows-only, and it does one thing: it puts visuals on your projector and keeps them locked to the beat, so you can go back to actually DJing. It links up with Rekordbox, Traktor, Serato and Virtual DJ — and if you're just playing off Spotify, it'll work out the BPM from the audio instead. No controller, no clip-triggering, no building a set beforehand. It's been in Early Access for two years and hits 1.0 at the end of September.

Boilerplate 118 words

AI VJ is free VJ software for Windows that displays curated, pre-generated AI visuals and live fractals in sync with music. It syncs via the Ableton Link protocol to popular DJ software including Virtual DJ, Rekordbox, Traktor and Serato, and can estimate BPM from any live audio source when Link is unavailable. It supports users' own video loops, images, sound-animated 3D models and Milkdrop presets, across multiple layers, controlled by keyboard and mouse. AI VJ launched into Steam Early Access in June 2024 and reaches version 1.0 on 28 September 2026. It is developed and published by Intuition Technology, a one-person studio in the Netherlands. The application and all core VJ features are free; optional visual packs fund development.

Developer bio 44 words

Wybo is the developer behind AI VJ and performs as DJ Wy. He built the app over more than two years for his own shows, as his own first customer, and runs Intuition Technology from the Netherlands.

Quote, attributable on the free model

"I wrote this for myself, because I wanted visuals on the projector without hiring a VJ or learning a second instrument mid-set. The aim is what a DJ with a projector actually needs — not hundreds of euros a year for features most of us never touch. Every core feature is free and stays free." — DJ Wy, developer, AI VJ

Quote, attributable on the AI question

"The visuals are AI-generated and I say so on the store page. They're generated ahead of time and curated, which is why this runs on a laptop instead of a workstation. If someone doesn't want AI visuals behind their set, that's a legitimate position and I'd rather they knew what this was up front. We, however, embrace the AI revolution in the name of beauty" — DJ Wy, developer, AI VJ
